Equal Love campaign – Kings College Conference, London 21 December 2010


LONDON, UK – 21 Dec 2010 – Four gay couples and four straight couples announced their intended joint application to the European Court of Human Rights , in a bid to overturn the twin bans on gay civil marriages and heterosexual civil partnerships. They want both institutions opened up to all couples, without discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Eighth Application – Tim & Lucy – Aldershot 14 December 2010


ALDERSHOT, UK – 14 Dec 2010 – A heterosexual couple, Lucy Hilken and Tim Garrett applied for a civil partnership at the Aldershot Register Office on Tuesday 14 December in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on opposite-sex civil partnerships. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on heterosexual civil partnerships, as part of the Equal Love campaign.

Seventh Application – Stephanie & Andrew – Camden 8 December 2010


LONDON, UK – 8 Dec 2010 – A heterosexual couple, Stephanie Munro and Andrew O’Neill applied for a civil partnership at the Camden Town Hall on Tuesday 8 December in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on opposite-sex civil partnerships. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on heterosexual civil partnerships, as part of the Equal Love campaign – equallove.org.uk

Sixth Application – David & Richard – Greenwich 30 November 2010


LONDON, 2 December 2010 – David Watters and Richard Hull applied for a civil marriage licence at Greenwich Register Office at the Town Hall in Woolwich on Thursday 2 December in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on same-sex marriage. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on gay marriages.

Fifth Application – Colette & Kristin – Petersfield 30 November 2010


PETERSFIELD, UK, 30 Nov 2010 – A lesbian couple, Colette French and Katie Green applied for a civil marriage licence at the Register Office in Petersfield, Hampshire on Tuesday 30 November in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on same-sex marriage. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on gay marriages.

Fourth Application – Ian & Kristin – Bristol 23 November 2010


BRISTOL, UK – 23 Nov 2010 – Ian Goggin and Kristin Skarsholt applied for a civil partnership at the Bristol Register Office on Tuesday 23 November in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on opposite-sex civil partnerships. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on heterosexual civil partnerships, as part of the Equal Love campaign.

Third Application – Matthew & Scott – Northampton 16 November 2010


NORTHAMPTON, 16 NOV 2010 – Scott Maloney (42) and Matthew Toresen (48) applied for a civil marriage licence at Northampton Register Office at the The Guildhall in Northampton on Tuesday 16 November in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on same-sex marriage. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on gay marriages.

Second Application – Katherine and Tom – Islington 9 November 2010


Katherine Doyle and Tom Freeman applied for a civil partnership licence at the Islington Register Office on Tuesday 9 November in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on opposite-sex civil partnerships. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on heterosexual civil partnerships.

Rev Sharon Ferguson (52) and her partner Franka (49), applied for a civil marriage licence at Greenwich Register Office at the Town Hall in Woolwich on Tuesday 2 November in a direct challenge to the UK’s legal ban on same-sex marriage. Their application was refused. The couple plan to take legal action in the courts to strike down the prohibition on gay marriages.
